What I Eat In A Day

I decided to write this post after binge watching "What I Eat in A Day" videos on YouTube all last night. I find it interesting to see what people eat ..don't judge me.. and I generally get quite a few ideas of meals I could make for myself , because sometimes you just run out of ideas, and end up having the same food for every meal and we can't have that now can we?

On a typical day I usually try to eat 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner and 2 snacks. Of course I don't always stick to his, but that's normally what I aim towards on any given day. I also don't eat dairy, or products that contain dairy, because it doesn't sit well with my stomach but also, not eating dairy helps me eat healthier since a lot of sugary things like, cake, pastries and chocolate (my love) contain dairy. Recently I have also tried cutting back on meat, and try to get my protein from greens and beans.

BREAKFAST

For breakfast I generally stick to oatmeal, because believe it or not, oatmeal is actually my favourite food ..I know, I'm weird.

I don't measure any of my food or count calories, so I'm not really sure how much I make, but I do make quite a big portion because, like I said, it's my favourite.

I make it with either almond or soy milk, add a little salt while it's in the pot and just mix till it thickens. I then add my honey, cinnamon and/or peanut butter, whatever I'm feeling, sometimes I like it sweeter other times more savoury.

After that, I add whatever fruit we have in the house, which is usually bananas, blueberries and raspberries. I also like adding fresh nectarines or peaches, mango, strawberries and grapes.

To top it all off, I add pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, nuts, dried goji berries or anything really that would complete the look.

I know you may be ready this like ..she really does all this in the mornings?? and, usually yes, because I love fruit, and I like making my food nice to look at, I enjoy it more that way but sometimes I do get lazy and just throw in a couple of blueberries, some honey and call it a day. It just depends on the day really.

Other than oatmeal, I like having; Avocado toast with egg or tomato, overnight oats, smoothies a long with something like Alpro yogurt and granola. I also add fruit to that.

SNACK

Between breakfast and lunch I sometimes have a small snack, usually I have apple slices with peanut butter. Its keeps you from being hangry, but doesn't fill you up too much.

Some other things I like to snack on are; just whole fruit like, bananas, oranges, fresh peaches or nectarines, grapes or anything else we have in the house at the time. I also like having berries or a handful of nuts, sometimes I have a protein bar if we have got any or sometimes I just have cereal because who doesn't like cereal?

LUNCH

For lunch I usually just eat something quick and easy but I try to keep it as healthy as possible.

By lunch time I'm starving, so I need to make something that's fast but also filling.

On this day I had a slice of toast topped with mashed avocado, lettuce leaves, tomato slices and a fried egg. I also had some broccoli left over so I added that, along with some roast pepper quinoa chips. I was especially hungry this day so I also cut up a nectarine and added some grapes. It was a slightly snack-y lunch, but filling and not that bad for you. For lunch I usually try to pack in as much green veggies as possible and some carbs.

My lunches are always lazy lunches thrown together using anything slightly healthy so they're different every day and very spontaneous.

DINNER

Sometimes I have lazy dinners, sometimes I put more effort into them, it really depends on what I'm feeling.

For this dinner, I made spaghetti, with broccoli, peas and carrots all mixed together with hoi shin sauce. It was delicious and filling, so you can count on it that I'll be making this again.

Again, I try keep my dinners as healthy as possible, lots of veggies, proteins with some added carbs. I also like having; roast veggies, like sweet potatoes, asparagus, parsnips, carrot and turnip with salmon or rice. Sometimes when I'm lazy I just have veggies and beans with rice, or quinoa. I also like having soup or pasta with tofu any type of sauce.

As you can see, I like eating quite healthy foods just because I enjoy fruit and veg more than burgers and pizza. Now that's not to say I never eat a good Domino's pizza, of course I do, I would go crazy if I didn't but it's all about balance. Too much of one thing is never good no matter what it is.

Hope I gave you some ideas, and if not, at least I hope you enjoyed reading what I eat in a day, I cant be the only one that does, right??

Thank you for reading!
